Alabama Workers Compensation Division has implemented Electronic
Data Interchange (EDI) in an effort to reduce paper filings and
become more efficient. Presently, only the Employer's
First Report of Injury or Occupational Disease, form WCC Form 2,
Rev. 6/2006 (First Report of Injury) will be filed using this
method. The previous First Report of Injury document, Rev. 4/2006
may be used until exhausted.
Claims section of Workers' Compensation Division acceptance
of First Reports using EDI is contingent upon a properly completed
trading partners profile, successful testing, and executed trading
partner agreement. EDI Business Coordinator or EDI Technical
Coordinator will notify new partners when these requirements have
been satisfied.
Companies interested in using EDI should carefully review and complete the enclosed information. Additional information may be obtained by contacting our EDI Business Coordinators, Christine Dunn at (334) 956-4032 or Earlene Holland at (334) 956-4031.
EDI Standards
Except for unique peculiarities and/or additional information,
Alabama Workers Compensation Division will use electronic standards
developed by the International Association of Industrial Accident
Boards and Commissions (IAIABC), an organization representing workers' compensation
administrators and officials since 1914. Over the years, IAIABC
has developed EDI standards in the area of accident reporting. These
standards are defined in the IAIABC EDI Implementation Guide, which
is available at:
https://www.iaiabc.org/iaiabc/EDI_Standards.asp.
