Reporting Requirements
The Alabama Department of Workforce enforces the Employer New Hire Reporting Law. To avoid citations, please review your records and report all newly hired or recalled employees within the last 12 months from the current date. This does not include previously employed or recently rehired employee (for the last 60 consectutive days). Failure to report new hires in the future may result in the assessment of a $25.00 penalty per occurrence.
All reports of hire will require the following data:

Required Employer(Business) Information:
- Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) used for Quarterly Wage Reports
- Employer Name as it appears on Quarterly Wage Reports
- Employer Address (Street, City, State, Zip) for receiving Income Withholding Orders (IWO's)

Required Employee(Newhire/Rehire) Information:
- Employee Social Security Number (SSN)
- Employee Legal Name (First, Middle, Last) as it appears on their Social Security card
- Employee Physical Address Location (Street, City, State, Zip)
- Employee Date of Hire - This is the latest date the individual began/returned to work
- Employee State of Hire
How Do I report?

The employer can report in the following ways:
- Upload File
- Reporting Agencies may offer service to report on behalf of the employer
- W4 can be mailed or faxed if the employer has less than 5 employees.
