INITIAL UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS FOR WEEK ENDING 4/17/2021
MONTGOMERY - The Alabama Department of Labor released the official count for initial claims filed during the week of April 11 – April 17, 2021.
8,983 initial claims were filed either online or by telephone during this period. 7,682 of those claims are estimated to be COVID-19 related.

Industry sectors with the greatest number of claims are: Manufacturing (1,244), Health Care and Social Assistance (1,203), Retail (960), Administrative and Support and Waste Management and Remediation Services (924), Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services (730), and Accommodation and Food Services (639).
Jefferson County had the largest number of claims with 1,704.
