ONLINE JOB ADS IN JULY UP 23.1% FROM LAST YEAR
Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, and Heavy & Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers are the top jobs in July.

MONTGOMERY - Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that as of July 2022, the yearly comparison of online job ads is 108,608, up 23.1% from July 2021. The monthly total of online job ads for July 2022 is down 6.8% versus the previous month with 48,396 new online ads.

The five occupations with the most online job ads are for Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, Heavy & Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers, Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers, and Sales Reps, Wholesale & Manufacturing with 17,211 ads placed for those occupations in July.

The HWOL data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state’s free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources, such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites.

Twenty-five percent of job ads have salaries of $75,000 and above; 22% have salaries in the $50-75,000 range; 19% have salaries in the $35-49,000 range; and 34% have salaries of $35,000 or under.

The top two employers posting the most online ads in July were Huntsville Hospital with 1,523 and UAB Health System with 1,522. The rest of the top 10 were: Walmart/Sam’s (1,257), Encompass Health (807), Baptist Health (732), University of Alabama at Birmingham (692), Regions (633), Lowe’s (563), Walgreens (488), and Auburn University (481).

This occupation provides technical assistance to computer users and resolves computer problems for clients in person, or electronically. Computer User Support Specialists also provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, e-mail, and operating systems. Typically, these occupations require a bachelor's degree but some require additional certificates and training. The advertised median salary for Computer User Support Specialists is $39,508.This occupation has Average Annual Openings of 630 statewide in Alabama.
