Registered Nurses and Retail Salespersons Were the Most Sought-After Employees
in July According to HWOL (Help Wanted Online) Data
FORTY-SIX PERCENT OF JOB ADS WITH SALARIES $35K AND ABOVE

MONTGOMERY - Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that the five occupations with the most online wanted ads were for registered nurses, retail salespersons, truck drivers, sales representatives (wholesale and manufacturing, except technical and scientific products), and customer service representatives with more than 7,000 ads placed for those occupations in July.

The HWOL data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state’s free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources; such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites.

Twelve percent of job ads have salaries of $75,000 and above; 16% have salaries in the $50-75,000 range; 18% have salaries in the $35-49,000 range; and 54% have salaries of $35,000 or under.

The top three employers posting ads in July were: UAB Medicine (616), Walmart / Sam’s (514), and Lowe’s (414). These were followed by UAB (367), Diversicare Healthcare & Therapy Services (332), the University of South Alabama (311), Huntsville Hospital (280), Encompass Home Health (257), Raytheon (246) and Northrup Grumman (235) to round out the top 10 employers with the most online ads.

Police Officers are the focus of this month’s in-depth analysis by the LMI division. The median annual salary is $41,744.
