Alabama Career Center System’s Mobile Career Center to Deploy in Lee County
Will Provide Free Computer and Internet Access and Assistance with Unemployment Claims

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Career Center System’s mobile career center will deploy to tornado damaged areas of Lee County to offer assistance to those impacted by the tornadoes. Residents can use the mobile career center’s 13 laptops and internet access, and can file for Disaster Unemployment Assistance.

“We know that many people in this area have been affected by these horrific storms, and don’t have ways to accomplish everyday business,” said Alabama Department of Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington. “We want to offer our mobile career center so that people can file unemployment claims if they need to, but even if they don’t, they can search for other assistance programs, pay bills, or email loved ones. We’re here to help in any way we can.”

Residents DO NOT need to be searching for a job to use the computers and internet access.

Staff from the Opelika Career Center and representatives from the Unemployment Compensation Division will be on hand to help with any claims or help residents search for jobs or register for job training, if interested.

The mobile career center will be on-site from Friday, March 15, 2019, through Friday, March 22, 2019. It will be operational from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday – Friday, and from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday.
