Masterbrand Cabinet Employees Eligible for Additional Benefits

MONTGOMERY – Following Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington’s announcement that all former employees of Masterbrand Cabinets in Auburn have been approved for Trade Adjustment Assistance Reauthorization Act (TAARA) Benefits, the Alabama Department of Labor and the Alabama Department of Commerce will host open meetings to allow these displaced workers to learn about the additional benefits awarded to them under the TAARA program. The TAARA Program is a federal program that seeks to provide adversely affected workers with opportunities to obtain the skills, credentials, resources, and support necessary to (re)build skills for future jobs.
To inform employees about the benefits available to them, four meetings have been scheduled at Southern Union Community College. Additional benefits include the following:
• Unemployment Compensation extended to 2 ½ years (while in training)
• Additional funding for Relocation Assistance
• Funding for travel to job interviews and training outside an employee’s commuting area
• Offset the cost of Health Insurance with the Health Care Tax Credit
• Wage Subsidy to offset a portion of the new wage vs. the old wage for workers over 50 years and older (Up to 2-years with a $10k Limit)
All former employees are encouraged to attend one of the meetings.

Thursday, October 11th at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.
